because it is possible for a person to be proficient in one of the dimensions of religion but be less informed in another dimension, and it is not surprising that God conceals something from a famous scholar and reveals it to another non-famous scholar; as a group of disbelievers considered it surprising that the Quran was revealed to Muhammad with the existence of men who were greater than him in their supposition; as God Almighty has said about them: ﴿وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ هَذَا الْقُرْآنُ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْقَرْيَتَيْنِ عَظِيمٍ[1]; “And they said: ‘Why this Quran was not revealed to a great man from the two cities?!’” and He said in response to them: ﴿أَهُمْ يَقْسِمُونَ رَحْمَتَ رَبِّكَ ۚ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ مَعِيشَتَهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۚ وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَاتٍ لِيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا سُخْرِيًّا ۗ وَرَحْمَتُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ[2]; “Do they distribute your Lord’s mercy?! We distributed among them their shares in the life of the world and raised some of them above some others in rank so that some of them take some others into service, and your Lord’s mercy is better than what they amass.” In addition, God is not ashamed of using an unknown creature as a means to guide His servants; as He has said: ﴿إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ يَضْرِبَ مَثَلًا مَا بَعُوضَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا ۚ فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ ۖ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَيَقُولُونَ مَاذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِهَذَا مَثَلًا ۘ يُضِلُّ بِهِ كَثِيرًا وَيَهْدِي بِهِ كَثِيرًا ۚ وَمَا يُضِلُّ بِهِ إِلَّا الْفَاسِقِينَ[3]; “God is not ashamed of setting forth a mosquito or something smaller as an example; but those who have believed know that is the truth from their Lord, and those who have disbelieved say: ‘What was God’s intention of this example?!’ He guides many with that and misguides many with that, and He does not misguide anyone with that except for sinners.” Rather, it has been proved by experience that most of the friends of God have been unknown human beings, and therefore, it is not wise nor precautionary to refuse the invitation of someone because he is unknown. Rather, God refuses except to confer a favor upon the oppressed on the earth and make them its leaders and inheritors; as He has said: ﴿وَنُرِيدُ أَنْ نَمُنَّ عَلَى الَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ أَئِمَّةً وَنَجْعَلَهُمُ الْوَارِثِينَ[4]; “And it is Our will to confer a favor upon those who were oppressed on the earth and to make them leaders and to make them inheritors.”
