﴿مَنْ كَانَ يُرِيدُ الْعِزَّةَ فَلِلَّهِ الْعِزَّةُ جَمِيعًا[1]; “Whoever desires glory, then to God belongs all glory,” and said: ﴿أَيَبْتَغُونَ عِنْدَهُمُ الْعِزَّةَ فَإِنَّ الْعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعًا[2]; “Do they seek glory from them?! Whereas all glory belongs to God,” and said: ﴿وَلِلَّهِ خَزَائِنُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ[3]; “The treasures of the heavens and the earth belong to God, but hypocrites do not understand,” and said: ﴿وَإِنْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا عِنْدَنَا خَزَائِنُهُ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَعْلُومٍ[4]; “And there is not a thing but its treasures are with Us, and We do not send it down but in a known measure,” and said: ﴿مَا عِنْدَكُمْ يَنْفَدُ ۖ وَمَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ بَاقٍ[5]; “What is with you comes to an end, and what is with God is everlasting,” and said: ﴿وَاللَّهُ الْغَنِيُّ وَأَنْتُمُ الْفُقَرَاءُ[6]; “God is the Rich, and you are the poor.”

As a result, only those will succeed in knowing and adhering to the truth who consider themselves in need of it and abandon arrogance against it because of what they have in the world; because contrary to what it may appear, the more they have in the world, the more they need to know and adhere to the truth, and naturally, the more they need it, the more they have to obey and demand it.

7. Superstitionism

Another impediment to cognition is “superstitionism”. What is meant by superstition is to believe in something that goes against the norm and has no basis in the intellect and Sharia, and it is clear that thinking based on it obstructs knowing the truth; because superstition, although it is the weakest belief, is sometimes more popular and firm than intellectual and religious beliefs and taints and weakens intellectual and religious beliefs. This is while most Muslims, who do not have sufficient knowledge, are afflicted with such beliefs; because all Islamic sects have been tainted more or less with superstition and distanced themselves from Islamic intellectualism and realism by turning toward illusions and vain desires in religious beliefs.
