because many of them did not dislike enjoining right and forbidding wrong and would accept the truth if they were told of it, and therefore, their followers are more deserving of that than them.

3. Association with non-Islamic nations and cultures

Another cause of non-establishment of Islam after the Messenger of God has been the association of Muslims with non-Islamic nations and cultures, which has been a common cause of non-establishment of religion after all the Prophets; as for example, after Musa , his followers gradually forgot his teachings, associated with disbelieving nations, were influenced by their blasphemous culture over time, and went to the extent that they worshiped their gods, and in the time of the Prophet Elias , they prostrated themselves to Baal, the idol of the Canaanites; as God has mentioned the words of that Prophet to them: ﴿أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ الْخَالِقِينَ[1]; “Do you call upon Baal and leave the Best of creators?!” Likewise, after Isa , his followers, with the motivation of getting free from the persecution of the Romans and gaining their support, and under the influence of Paul’s teachings, who was an anti-Christ Jewish, forgot the teachings of that Prophet, approached the Roman idolaters, were influenced by their polytheistic beliefs, and replaced the monotheism of Isa with their trinity. Likewise, after Muhammad , his followers continued the way of the past people, and after their conquests in the lands of disbelievers, they associated with polytheistic nations and people of the Book, were influenced by their culture, and forgot a portion of the Islamic culture. In addition, the polytheists and people of the Book who converted to Islam under the influence of Muslims’ wars or invitations, were never able to abandon all their past beliefs and deeds, and they kept some of them and passed them on to succeeding generations, intentionally or unintentionally.
