Is it obligatory to pay Khums during the absence of his Excellency Mahdi peace be upon him? How should we deliver Khums to his Excellency Mahdi peace be upon him?

Answer to question: 1 Date: 2015-11-11

Half of khums belongs to orphans, the poor and Hashemite wayfarers in need, and with this description there is no problem to pay it to them, but the other half of Khums belongs to Mahdi and it is obligatory to pay it to him, and with this description whoever does not pay it to him is guilty, although he is in his absence period; since his absence is due to the action and causation of the people, and with this description it is not counted as an excuse for them to not pay Khums to him; except for those of them who have uprisen to prepare the grounds for his advent; because such people are not guilty of not paying Khums to him, and Mutawatir narrations which are about exemption from Khums for followers of the caliph of God, inform about them[1], and they are those who join the preparer of the grounds for Mahdi’s advent and provide help, rather pay Mahdi’s share of Khums to him in order to spend it in the way of preparation of the grounds for advent of his Excellency; considering that if they had paid it to his Excellency in this time, would have certainly spent it in the way of preparation of the grounds for his own advent, and with this description it is not unlikely that paying Khums to anyone other than his Honor, is similar to pouring it into the sea.

Is it obligatory to pay Imam’s share of Khums to his Excellency Allamah?

Answer to appendix: 1 Date: 2015-11-13

His Excellency Allamah Mansoor Hashemi Khorasani may God protect him, does not ask for Khums from anyone, but if someone willingly pays it to him, he spends it in the way of preparation of the grounds for advent of Mahdi. With this description, whoever wants, pays it to him, and whoever does not want, does not pay it to him; because God is aware of the work of both.
